Proceedings of General Body meeting of Indian Association of Veterinary Microbiologists, Immunologists and Specialists in Infectious Diseases (IAVMI) held on 25th Nov., 2008 at Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar

The Meeting was attended by Executive Committee members along with members of the association. The numbers of members were less than the required corum. Hence, the meeting was adjourned and reconveined. The meeting started with the condolence for the peace of great soul, Late Dr. C.M. Singh, Ex. Patron of IAVMI. Thereafter, president of IAVMI placed the proposal before the House for the ratification of the decisions taken during the Executive Committee meeting held on 6th Aug., 2008 at Division of Bacteriology & Mycology. Prof. M.P. Yadav, Dr. S.K. Srivastava, Dr. G.C. Ram, Dr. V.P. Singh, Dr. P. Das and Dr. B.B. Dash were present in the executive meeting.

1. Dr. V.P. Singh, Jt. Secretary cum Treasurer informed the House about the decisions taken during the Executive Meeting which were as follows:-
   • Different awards were instituted by the Association for the first time wherein, Prof. P.K. Uppal was nominated for the Life Time Achievement Award. It was also decided that
     Dr. J.N.S. Yadav, Dr. R.P. Mishra and Dr. H. Bhattacharya will be conferred IAVMI Fellow during the 23rd Annual Conference.
   • The house ratified the decisions taken by the Executive committee.
2. To meet out the expenses for publication of IAVMI journal, it was decided that corporate members will pay Rs. 10,000/- annually or  Rs. 1 Lakh for life membership.
3. The processing fee for publication and subscription fee of journal has also been revised follows:

4. Dr. V.P. Singh, Jt. Secretary cum Treasurer also informed the House that the savings from the Conference would be transferred in the Association Account.
5. Some eminent persons were also included in the Editorial Board of the journal and the new Editorial Board was constituted as follows:

6. Editor’s report was read by Dr. J.M. Kataria who informed about the publication of backlog issues. It was requested to put the journal online on Indianjournal.com.
7. The Report of General Secretary and Treasurer Report were read by Dr. V.P. Singh, Jt. Secretary cum Treasurer.
8. The General Body felt that in order to raise the funds, contribution from the members as well as nonmembers is welcome. Such contribution should not be less than Rs 5000/-.
9. The life membership fee was decided to increase from Rs. 810/- to Rs. 1510/-.
10. It was decided that the conference of IAVMI will be organized every year.
11. With regard to the election of the Executive Committee, the General Body was of the opinion that in order to save the time and expenses, the Committee be elected based on common consensus. The Executive Committee members were thus selected unanimously as follows:-
